If there is no tooth that can act as an abutment in the mouth, force transmission, support and retention are provided by fixing the prosthesis on the tissue surface. Fully tissue supported prosthetic applications are called total dentures. Since the retention in total dentures is provided by the tissue, the amount of tissue and the quality of the existing tissues directly affect the prosthesis retention. At this stage, the correct transportation of the tissues to the laboratory together with the measurement is very important in total dentures, as in every type of prosthesis. Additionally, due to the presence of tissues such as tongue and cheek that cause the dentures to move in the lower jaw, the use and getting used to may be more difficult than the upper jaw.
